Write a program for CallableStatement statement with stored procedure returns OUT parameters.

A CallableStatement object provides a way to call stored procedures using JDBC. Connection.prepareCall() method provides you CallableStatement object. Below example shows how to call stored procedure with out parameters. You can regester output parameters data types by using registerOutParameter() method.

package com.java2novice.jdbc;

import java.sql.CallableStatement;
import java.sql.Connection;
import java.sql.DriverManager;
import java.sql.SQLException;
import java.sql.Types;

public class MyOutparmCallableStmt {

	public static void main(String a[]){
		Connection con = null;
		CallableStatement callSt = null;
		try {
			con = DriverManager.
					getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@<hostname>:<port num>:<DB name>"
			callSt = con.prepareCall("{call myprocedure(?,?)}");
			//below method used to register data type of the out parameter
			callSt.registerOutParameter(2, Types.DOUBLE);
			Double output = callSt.getDouble(2);
			System.out.println("The output returned from stored procedure: "+output);
		} catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {
			// TODO Auto-generated catch block
		} catch (SQLException e) {
			// TODO Auto-generated catch block
		} finally{
				if(callSt != null) callSt.close();
				if(con != null) con.close();
			} catch(Exception ex){}

What is race condition?
A race condition is a situation in which two or more threads or processes are reading or writing some shared data, and the final result depends on the timing of how the threads are scheduled. Race conditions can lead to unpredictable results and subtle program bugs. A thread can prevent this from happening by locking an object. When an object is locked by one thread and another thread tries to call a synchronized method on the same object, the second thread will block until the object is unlocked.
